The Smart Journal™ by Sportsman's Research™ is the premier free online hunting and fishing journal. Most serious sportsmen have kept journals for years, but there is only so much you can do with handwritten notes. The Smart Journal™ will let you go to the next level and use your personally collected information in ways that were previously impossible. Using the Smart Journal™, you can record information about each of your trips outdoors then search your entries and generate reports and graphs that will help you identify patterns and hot spots to increase your success in the field or on the water.

In each Smart Journal™ entry, you will have the capability to record information about the game or fish pursued, weather and atmospheric conditions, sunrise/sunset times, moonrise/moonset times, moon phase, and other information in addition to your own comments and notes. By entering GPS coordinates, you will be able to display and record your trip locations with precision on each of the four interactive maps available on the site. You will also have the option of rating each trip (excellent, good, fair, poor) based on your own criteria. The Smart Journal™ provides the capability to upload photographs to attach to each journal entry as well. Then, using the information you recorded, you can use the search features of the journal to generate reports and graphs to quickly identify your hot spots or patterns under any given conditions.
